The Crest Academy website statement – Ofsted
On the 4th July 2018, Ofsted visited The Crest Academy and found that the academy is continuing its upward journey of success. Leaders have been praised for ensuring an effective provision and providing an inclusive education, strong behaviour management and robust safeguarding practices. The report detailed guidance to continue our rising journey of success and we look forward to implementing these as we continue our efforts to attain the ‘Outstanding’ accolade.
The Ofsted monitoring visit report highlighted that:
• “The Headteacher and school leaders are committed to ensuring that all safeguarding arrangements are robust and that they keep staff and pupils safe”.
• “Leadership of behaviour management is strong…The behaviour team has excellent relationships with pupils. They are committed to supporting pupils to stay safe and learn in an appropriate environment”.
• “…Teaching is strong; pupils work hard, are engaged in their learning and make good progress over time”.
• “Leaders have ensured effective provision for those pupils who have SEN and/or disabilities and those new to learning English… Pupils report that they feel well supported.”
Headteacher, Ms Fernandes, commented: “I commend our students and staff for the ongoing progress that The Crest Academy continues to make. We have introduced a series of changes across the academy in order to enhance our provision, better manage our systems, teaching and learning and improve communications, and it is encouraging that inspectors have recognised the positive impact of these improvements on the students’ outcomes. There is still more work to be done by myself and my team to ensure all of our students fulfil their potential and we continue our journey to Outstanding, but we are delighted that the report highlights the direction we have taken. I am proud to be leading The Crest Academy on their journey of success”.
